We are very sad to announce that Joyce passed away in Pembury Hospital yesterday 29th August after being admitted the previous day suffering from breathing problems. Daughter Rosemary will let us know the funeral arrangements in due course. I am sure that many of us who enjoyed Joyce's laughter and chat via our work with husband Warwick for all their married life, and since such as at Ted's funeral 2 months ago when she certainly cheered me up, will regret her passing. KCA 25 Sunday 13th September 2015

Please note that the organiser Ian Ferrell sent out the following message yesterday concerning this event:- Dear All, You may be aware of potential problems with regards to my KCA event on 13th September. I have spoken to the lead contractor and I am assured that we will be able to use the full existing circuit. The turn at Broomfield was the issue. Two small traffic islands have been built prior to the final roundabout before you re-join the Thanet Way. The road here will be re-surfaced this week before the Bank Holiday and whilst extra care will have to be taken, it should not propose any danger to riders. I will of course highlight this in the start sheet and at the HQ on the day. Of more concern to me will be the slip road at Reculver/Hillboro. We did not use it last year due to the erratic surface and I do not propose to use it this year either. The riders will remain on the A299. A marshal will be placed here as usual. All - Will you please all circulate this to club members. Pat - can you let Peter H know for me. Colin - Thanks for your help in putting together a replacement course had the need arisen. I will ring you. Bob - can you please place an entry on Spin Wheels covering my point. Thanks Ian

Roy Manser (submitted by Pat Hill)

It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Roy died today after going on a WW run with a crowd of friends. He had left his car at the WW pub the Lord Raglan, and while they were having a coffee at Frankies Café he said he felt ill. Kav collected Roy 's car from the pub and told the crowd of us having lunch there that he was ill, but while Kav was driving him home Roy asked to have a stop for some fresh air and literally passed away sitting on the grass verge at Linton Hill. Kav phoned Dick Bradley and it is Dick who has asked me to pass the news on.

Peter Stone

It is with great sadness that we record the death of Peter Stone on July 26th. Peter was a stalwart of cycling in Kent, serving on the National & Local Committees of the RTTC. and supporting the Kent CA, especially working hard to ensure the success of the annual 12 Hour. He and Gill were to be seen at many events throughout the years. He was President of the KCA for several years. He was a talented time triallist in his younger days, riding for the West Kent RC and pairing with Mickey Dunn (Catford CC) to break several tandem records. The Funeral arrangements are as follows – Monday 24th August. There will be a family cremation followed by a celebration of Peter’s life at St. Michael & All Angels Church, Wilmington commencing at 11 am. No flowers but donation cheques may be sent to the funeral directors who are the Co-Op Funeral Care, 91-93 Lowfield Street, Dartford, Kent DA1 1HP. Pat Hill

Please note that I am back in touch with life again with a new PC. I can now tell you that Cancer Research donations made in Ted's memory reached the great sum of £1,200 so I thank all who gave so generously. I will be at the 50 at Brenzett in August and hope to resume my work for the KCA. It has been a great source of comfort to hear from so many of our friends in Kent since Ted died. See you soon I hope.

Ted Hill's Funeral 17.6.15

My sincere thanks to all who came to say goodbye to Ted at Charing on Monday. I was overwhelmed when more than 200 people packed the chapel, upstairs and down, many in their club strip as I had hoped. It was a very sad day for me and my family but somehow, all the hugs and words of praise for Ted and his work for Kent cycling that you gave me, made it a more of a celebration. My family and Ted's 1st Claim club, the Finsbury Park, many of whom came from far afield to show their respect for a man who joined as a 18 year old in 1950 and remained a loyal member all his life, were impressed by the way the many Kent cyclists there seemed to have such an affectionate regard for each other, and to see me surrounded by my 'other' family, Kent cyclists. I thank the many of you who came on to the Swan at Charing after the service to help make it a good way to remember Ted, with lots of laughter, and as usual, many memories relived. You are a great bunch of friends.

(Ted Hill' Funeral)

Ted's funeral will be on Monday, 15th June at Charing Crematorium, at 12 midday. There will be a reception after at the Swan at Charing, which is nearby. All are welcome to come to both to make this a celebration of the life of a life-long cyclist. No black please, cycle strip would be welcome. Only family flowers are asked for but if you wish, donations to Cancer Research may be handed or sent to the funeral directors, T.W. Fuggle and Son, 20 Ashford Road, Tenterden Kent TN30 6QU. I am overwhelmed at all the lovely cards and messages I have had from all over Kent and his friends in the Finsbury Park CC and they have been a great comfort to me and my family. Pat
